|
U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab announced March 24 the promotion of two USTR officials to positions overseeing intellectual property and legislative affairs.
• Stan McCoy has been named assistant USTR for intellectual property and innovation. McCoy will be responsible for developing and implementing trade policy aimed at reducing counterfeiting and piracy and enforcing intellectual property rights protections. Previously, he served as USTR’s chief negotiator for IPR enforcement and as associate general counsel. Earlier in his career he worked on IPR, international trade law and other matters for a major law firm.
• Andy Olson has been appointed assistant USTR for legislative affairs after serving as deputy assistant. Olson will be responsible for overseeing congressional consultations and outreach, including on the pending free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea. Before joining USTR he served as legislative counsel to Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and as an aide to Rep. Christopher Cox, R-Calif., handling foreign relations, international trade, tax and financial services issues.
