uspto chief jon dudas delivered tough words on china's record of counterfeiting and piracy during a luncheon address on the first day of the ipo's annual meeting last week in chicago.
"we have said we will take any measures to enforce the law. there are areas we do believe the chinese are deficient in," noted dudas.
dudas said the chinese government is aware of talks between the department of commerce and the wto and that other countries have "gone in on the transparency requirement". last year japan, switzerland and the us used a wto mechanism to request the chinese government to provide more information about its record of cracking down on ip violations.
in another session on counterfeiting and piracy in china, jack chang, senior ip counsel for general electric in asia, said he has been urging the chinese police to investigate alleged infringement more proactively. |
